  • Only seven percent of the people surveyed by Cloud.com work where they have an approved cloud computing strategy in place. Another 20 percent have no plans to develop a cloud computing strategy and 22 percent have a partial strategy.
  • Most respondents believe that the biggest (with 68 percent) perceived benefit of cloud computing is hardware savings. Other respondents suggested that the perceived benefits included faster deployment of infrastructure, automation capabilities and reducing the systems management burden.
  • Most of the respondents to Cloud.com’s survey — nearly 70 percent — said that they use open source software whenever possible. Only 15 percent use it sparingly and another 14 percent only when commercial support isn’t available.
  • The factors currently driving the adoption of cloud computing include scalability, overall cost savings, easier management, greater flexibility and improved hardware utilization.
